Dolan Roofing & Construction Has Changed, but Our Work Has Stood the Test of Time
Here at Dolan Roofing & Construction, we’ve been in business for a while—and our founder, leaders, and employees have been in the industry for even longer. In the time our business has operated, now for more than a decade, our name and narrative has shifted over the years. But through all those shifts and changes, our dedication to helping homeowners and business owners in our service areas has never wavered.
In today’s blog post, we wanted to take our readers on a journey through the past, sharing how our company has changed in name and focus, but never in values or quality.
Roots in the Construction Industry
While our current company was founded more recently, the true origins of Dolan Roofing & Construction date back to 1973. That’s when John, father of DRC owner and founder Johnny Dolan, founded his construction business in Arizona.
Starting as a roofing company, Johnny Dolan worked alongside his father for many years, hot mopping roofs and completing many other roofing projects. During the 90s, the company moved more fully into construction, building custom homes for many years. Johnny was involved in designing, planning, and building many of those homes, learning the tricks of the construction trade.
After completing college, Johnny Dolan went back to building houses with his dad and entered storm restoration in 2010. He worked with various companies, first in Phoenix, AZ and later in Charlotte, NC. After that, Johnny traveled to San Antonio to complete a storm restoration project for friends in the area.
Dolan Restoration & Construction (2016–2021) 
In San Antonio, Johnny saw a clear need for skilled, professional, and reliable storm restoration experts. With his construction knowledge, combined with his experience in storm restoration, he founded his business in 2016 as Dolan Restoration & Construction.
For five years, Dolan Restoration & Construction served the San Antonio community, providing superior quality restoration work for homeowners throughout the area. Later, Johnny opened a second Dolan location in Tucson, closer to his hometown, run by his brother-in-law Cory Catterson.
Dolan Roofing & Construction (2021–present)
In the years leading up to 2021, the Dolan Restoration & Construction team increasingly focused on roof restorations, and on roofing work in general. Here in San Antonio, roofs are particularly susceptible to storm damage, as we have a busy hail season and frequently experience violent storms. It’s essential for homeowners to work with a reliable and experienced roofer, and with a strong track record providing top-notch roofing work, DRC rose to the challenge.
To reflect this newfound focus, a name change was needed. However, many clients already knew our company as DRC. We decided to make things easier on folks, keeping the DRC initialism and changing our full name to Dolan Roofing & Construction in 2021.
Our new name better reflects our services while acknowledging the company’s history and roots in construction. While we’re still renowned for our storm restoration work, our team has expertise in everything from residential roof replacements to a full suite of commercial roofing services.
Many of our customers worked with us when we were Dolan Restoration & Construction. To clear up any confusion, Dolan Roofing & Construction is the same company, just under a new name that better reflects our focus as a full-service roofing company.
