Spend Plenty of Time at the River Walk
The River Walk is probably San Antonio’s most classic attraction, steeped in history and full of fun things to do at all times of year. We’ll definitely be looking to make a few trips out there, whether for a fun couple’s date night or a family weekend outing.
The River Walk is chock-full of restaurants, bars, shops, and more. If you don’t feel like making a purchase, enjoy a nice stroll along the water—and if you get too hot, duck in for a drink or ice cream, since you’ve got plenty of options.
Of course, the River Walk is also home to many fun San Antonio events. Choose from events like festivals, river parades and the Parade of Lights – it seems like there’s almost always something happening. Check out the River Walk’s Events page for more info!
Explore San Antonio’s History
San Antonio is more than 300 years old, making it one of the most historic cities in the entire US. If you like history, or if you’d just like to feel like you’re traveling through time, there are plenty of preserved historic sites and districts just waiting to be explored.
Many of these great sites are located right downtown, so you won’t have to go too far. Historic Market Square is always buzzing, and it’s a great place to find unique handicrafts and more. Just down the street lies San Fernando Cathedral, which dates back to the 18th century and is just breathtaking. Of course, we can’t not mention The Alamo, possibly the most famous landmark in our city. And for (somewhat) more recent history and plenty of family fun, the Pearl District is well worth a visit.
Have a Blast at Our Theme Parks
If you’re looking for something more thrilling, San Antonio has you covered there as well. We’re known as the Theme Park Capital of Texas, and for good reason—we truly have the best selection in the state!
From exciting roller coasters to marine life to more laid-back amusement rides, you can find something for everyone. Six Flags Fiesta is always a blast, while SeaWorld features plenty of water rides and slides to keep you and your family cool. Lastly, Morgan’s Wonderland is a local staple and probably the most family-friendly attraction on this whole list, especially if you have littler ones—or are looking for something that will work for 5- and 75-year-olds alike!
